Back to School Picnic - Registration

 
6th Annual Aboriginal Back to School Picnic
August 16, 2008, 11:00am to 3:00pm at RUDD PARK, Victoria
Registration for the Back to School Picnic is done on a first come, first served basis.

Due to the high volume of registrations for back packs anticipated this year, we are requesting that caregivers include medical (Care Card) numbers with their child's registration form. 
No faxed registrations are being accepted this year.

WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR THIS EVENT!!
We anticipate over 800 participants at the Back to School Picnic this year, which means we will need close to 100 volunteers. Your help is needed in the following areas:

** Back pack stuffing (week before the event)
** Set up (9am) and Take Down (3pm)
** Entertainment
** Security
** Food Tent (preparation and serving)
** Sponsorship and Donations (before the event)
** Crafts and Games

Registered volunteers will receive an event T-shirt as well as a certificate acknowledging their support. These certificates can be used in post secondary application packages or resumes to demonstrate community involvement achieved.

Criminal record checks are provided free of charge and are required before the event. Forms available in our office.

We ask that registered volunteers attend at least one All Volunteers Planning Meeting to be scheduled the week before the picnic. Lunch will be provided. Watch our website for days and times.

COMPUTER GIVE-AWAY WRITING CONTEST
This year we will give away a computer to Aboriginal school-aged children and youth in the following categories:
**Elementary School
**Middle School
**High School

Youth are asked to submit a 250-500 word essay that tells a story about our "Storyteller" logo.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS JULY 31ST, 2008 at 4:30pm
To ensure submissions are received, please mail, email or drop them off to our office personally.
