  • There are currently 229 Urban Aboriginal Children in foster care representing 54 different First Nations
  • Of the current 350 approved care homes, only 30 homes are Aboriginal.

Aboriginal Children and Youth Need Aboriginal Homes…

  • Do you identify as an Aboriginal person?
  • Are you willing to work with Aboriginal workers within our agency?
  • Are you over the age of 19?
  • Are you physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually able to provide quality care for an Urban Aboriginal child?
  • Do you believe in enhancing and supporting cultural connections and traditional teachings so that Urban Aboriginal children can live a culturally rich life?
  • Can you create positive ways to work through unexpected challenges?

Caregiver Information Session
For those interested in learning more about how to become a foster parent for Aboriginal children and youth, you are invited to attend these sessions.

Surrounded By Cedar, Nil/Tu,o Child and Family Services, and MCFD Aboriginal Resource Team will host three community information sessions in various locations.

Come join us for an informal dinner and discussion about the role of foster parents, working with our agency and how to register as a community care provider.
