Donation
Surrounded by Cedar has established a Reconnection Fund to support Aboriginal children and extended families.
Our Social Workers will be working to reconnect Aboriginal children and youth to their families, communities and cultures. We recognize that one of the barriers to reconnection work is the transportation costs that families must bear when their children and youth live in the Capital Region. We want to do something to address that barrier.
There are a number of ways that you can help us reconnect more urban Aboriginal children home with their families, communities and cultures.
How To Donate
Annual Giving
You can give a gift to urban Aboriginal children and families in Victoria today through an annual gift to Surrounded By Cedar. You will receive a tax receipt from Surrounded By Cedar. And as a token of our thanks, you will also receive our newsletter, DreamSpeaker, four times a year.
There are three easy ways that you can give an annual gift to the children:
Complete our general donation form (pdf) and send it by mail to:

Monthly Giving
Nothing makes you feel better than helping children reconnect with their families. Surrounded By Cedar invites you to consider making a monthly gift to our children and families, and, in so doing, join a special group called the "All My Relations" program . You can authorize Surrounded By Cedar to make an automatic withdrawal from your bank account. It's a carefree way of extending your compassion to urban Aboriginal children and families who really need your help.
As a member of the "All My Relations" program you will receive a consolidated tax receipt from Surrounded By Cedar in January. You will also receive our newsletter, DreamSpeaker, four times a year and will be recognized in the Donor Roll in the fall issue of the newsletter. There are two easy ways that you can become a member of the "All My Relations" program and give monthly to our urban Aboriginal children and families:

Honour / Memorial
A special and lasting tribute can be made through a donation made in memory of a friend or relative. Notification is sent to the bereaved family acknowledging all memorial gifts. All of our memorials are remembered throughout the following year on our Surrounded By Cedar website.
Often it can be difficult to choose that special gift to celebrate a birthday or anniversary or just to say thanks. You can also recognize special people in your life by making a donation to Surrounded By Cedar in their honour. They will be notified of your gift in their honour and will be remembered throughout the following year on our Surrounded By Cedar website
By making a donation in honour or in memory of a person, you can recognize these important individuals in a special way that will improve the lives of urban Aboriginal children and families to whom we provide services.
There are two easy ways that you can make a honour or memorial gift today:
Complete our honour / memorial donation form (pdf) and send it by mail to:

Purchase Teddy Bears
On January 24, 2005, Surrounded By Cedar began to reconnect our Aboriginal children to their families, communities and cultures. That day marked the first time two of our staff members traveled from Victoria to Powell River with two children to their home community of Sliammon.
That day our children met over 100 family and community members. It was the children’s first visit home in 15 years.

You can help us bring more children home by purchasing a “Surrounded By Cedar Bear”
- Individual minimum donation $25
- Agency or Society minimum donation $100
- Income tax receipts available on request
- All money raised will help cover transportation costs for our children and families.
To make your donation, please contact Shelly Johnson.
